Borussia Dortmund and the multinational technology group Wilo have agreed to prolong their cooperation. The tradition-steeped duo from Dortmund are extending their existing Champion partnership until 2026. Starting from next year, Wilo will additionally support BVB as a sustainability partner as well.

As part of the partnership, which will initially run for three years, the pumps and pump systems manufacturer will assist BVB in reducing its environmental footprint, among other things. In addition, the two partners want to work together to implement global projects to promote the sustainable use of energy and resources. Both Wilo and BVB use the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations as a basis for their business activities. The partners are also involved in humanitarian projects around the world. Among other things, they plan to donate mobile water treatment systems (Portable Aqua Unit for Lifesaving, PAUL for short) to charitable causes.

"We consciously emphasise the urgency and relevance of sustainable thinking and action," said Oliver Hermes, the chairman and CEO of the Wilo Group. "Climate protection is part of our business model and is firmly anchored in our corporate culture." BVB managing director Carsten Cramer continued: "We've been closely associated with Wilo for more than 10 years now. In our cooperation, we look forward to placing an even stronger focus on such an important goal and thus fulfilling to our social responsibility together."

Wilo has been a BVB Champion partner since 2011. The partners have not only worked together on the football side of things in the past but have also actively supported climate protection – including a tree-planting initiative in Tanzania.
