The Borussia Dortmund women's handball team comfortably won the hotly-anticipated clash between the two best sides in Germany by a 28-22 scoreline in Bietigheim.

BVB were totally on their game from the first second, led 11-4 by the 15-minute-mark and held in a comfortable six-goal lead (16-10) at the half-time interval. In the second half, the Black & Yellows showed great intelligence to see out their victory. It was a great team performance, underpinned by the outstanding Kelly Dulfer in defence and the impressive playmaker Alina Grijseels, who was BVB's best thrower with seven goals. Borussia's goalkeeper Isabell Roch also produced a convincing display between the posts.

The win was a major statement by Borussia Dortmund in the fight for supremacy in German women's handball. BVB remain the only team yet to drop a point this season and sit top of the table despite having played a game fewer. The team will now be given the rest of the weekend off until Monday.
