BVB are set to host FC Schalke 04 on Saturday (17 September, kick-off 15:30 CET). As has been the case in past derbies, there will be some changes to the travel arrangements. We therefore recommend that all fans arrive as early as possible on Saturday. Below is a summary of the most important travel information.

In order to be at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on time for the start of the match, fans should arrive early and also allow a little more time than usual for their departure. Due to two trade fairs in the Westfalenhallen, there is little parking space available. Fans should therefore travel by public transport if possible. From the afternoon onwards, the DEW21 Museum Night will take place at the same time as the derby, with tens of thousands of visitors expected.

Car:
For all BVB fans arriving by car, parking spaces D1 and D2 will not be available.

BVB fans can use the designated parking spaces B1, C1 & C2, E1-3, F1 & F2 and M1.

Train and bus:
At the main station, there may be waiting times heading towards the stadium. Please note the special route in place for BVB fans. On BVB match days, access to the platform at the "Hauptbahnhof" station is usually via the north side. For the derby, this access is reserved for Schalke 04 fans, who arrive at Dortmund Hauptbahnhof on special trains and are directed to the Stadtbahn via the north exit.

Due to the renovation work at the station, the southern access below the stairs to the DB level, which is usually used by BVB fans at derbies, is no longer available. Instead, the central entrance to the Stadtbahn area will be used and fans should follow the instructions given on site.

BVB fans arriving by train at Dortmund Hauptbahnhof should leave the station through the main entrance at Königswall and use the underground exits on the left side in the area of the NH Hotel.

BVB fans arriving by underground from the direction of the city centre will only be taken to the "Stadion" stop. The stops "Westfallenhallen" and "Remydamm" will be reserved for away fans on Saturday.

Those who take one of the five bus lines (452, 453, 455, 456 and 475) to the main station and change to the light rail there will have to accept a slightly longer walk, as the buses do not stop at the north exit of the main station. Alternative bus stops will be set up on Grüne Straße at the junction with Kurfürstenstraße.

Bus line 450 between Kirchhörde and Westfalenhallen will be reinforced by a large number of additional vehicles. There will also be additional journeys on route 453 ("Löschteich-E-Wagen") from Westfalenhallen to Schüren/Aplerbeck as well as on route 448 from Barop Parkhaus in the direction of Kruckel.

Further information on the DSW21 can be accessed here.

Pedestrians:
Dortmund Police would also like to point out that the pedestrian bridge over the B1 at Max-Ophüls-Platz/Lindemannstraße will be closed prior to the match. Likewise, the green space at Signal-Iduna-Versicherung south of the B1 will not be accessible.

Pedestrians coming from the direction of the city centre/ Kreuzviertel can use the following access and departure routes to the stadium:

  • Lindemannstraße, Wittekindstraße, Im Rabenloh.
  • Joseph-Scherer-Straße, Maurice-Vast-Straße, the northern turning loop and Strobelallee.

Please note the glass ban zone set up by the City of Dortmund around the stadium.

The Dortmund Police have also summarised all the most important information in a letter to fans:
