The BVB Legends are set to embark on a three-day trip to Vietnam, presenting a long-awaited legend match against the Vietnam All-Star Team. NextMedia, Vietnam’s premiere leader in sports and digital media, makes this event a part of the True Love – To The Future campaign, which is run by Next Media, HCMC’s Youth Union, Borussia Dortmund and delegates of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK) to support orphans and children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The tour is set to take place from the 27th to 29th of September 2022 and will entail many activities, including the visit to a Youth Development Clinic. The crucial part of the campaign is a friendly match between All Stars Vietnam and Borussia Dortmund’s Legends. The legend match against the Vietnam All Star at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on Wednesday, September 28, at 7 pm local time. Singer Hoang Bach and singer My Tam will become the campaign's ambassadors, determined to spread True Love's message. All the profits from the ticket sales will be transferred to the project's fund. The money will be sent to the HCMC Youth Union's Bank account right after the end of the campaign. Besides, some activities of the campaign such as fundraisers and visiting schools with orphans will be deployed to share their losses.

Among the BVB Legends squad are Julio Cesar, Dedé, Marcel Schmelzer, Norbert Dickel, Evanílson, Kevin Großkreutz, Jörg Heinrich, Jan Koller, David Odonkor, Patrick Owomoyela, Karl-Heinz Riedle, Miroslav Stevic, Roman Weidenfeller, Ibrahim Tanko, Mladen Petic and Mohamed Zidan.

All Stars Vietnam include coach Le Huynh Duc, former players Van Quyen, Cong Vinh, Quoc Vuong and current players of the Vietnam National Team such as Que Ngoc Hai, Do Hung Dung, Ngo Hoang Thinh. They will be accompanied by top stars in the entertainment industry such as singer-musician Hoang Bach, rocker Anh Khoa and musician Nguyen Van Chung. The All Stars team also has the presence of YouTuber Cán Cris and world freestyle runner-up Do Kim Phuc.

Mr. Do Thanh Tung, Deputy General Director of Next Media, said: “Next Media planned the True Love campaign and together with Borussia Dortmund, the Youth Union, and other units raises support for orphans affected by Covid-19. We believe that football can be a connection, a tool for connecting people and spreading messages in society. Through that, the love will come to children with difficulty and help them have more power in the future.”

Kevin Sim, Head of Asia Pacific: “Vietnamese fans are incredibly passionate about the Bundesliga; since partnering with Next Media three years ago, our TV audience has grown more than 900%. We are equally committed to fueling this passion, both at the grassroots level by bringing Bundesliga legends and Bundesliga experiences to Vietnam, but also by supporting the development of the national team, like when the Vietnam U17s visited the academies of four Bundesliga clubs, including Borussia Dortmund’s, in a program designed to offer both players and coaches the chance to enhance their skills. Through our partnership with Next Media, fans are captivated by the end-to-end action and non-stop goals that the Bundesliga provides. The Borussia Dortmund Legends’ visit is another great step to inspire young fans and bring German football even closer to Vietnam.”

“Over the past few years, BVB has enjoyed a fruitful and rewarding development in Vietnam, particularly with a vibrant presence in youth development together with our partner NextMedia. Therefore, it is crucial for us to demonstrate how close our relationship is with our partners and fans in Vietnam. Together with NextMedia, we will continue to create success on and off the pitch,” said Benedikt Scholz, Director of Internationalisation & Commercial Partnerships of BVB.

Dr. Suresh Letchmanan, BVB’s Managing Director of the Asia Pacific, further added, “We as BVB are extremely excited to bring our legendary players to Vietnam, a significant market for us as BVB in Asia. The sheer enthusiasm and love for the game are deeply rooted in the Vietnamese culture, and we are proud and honored to bring the black and yellow feeling to our fans and supporters in this country. With all our strong partners for this project, especially with Next Media, DFL, Evonik, and ROWE, we are confident in delivering a one-of-a-kind experience in Vietnam and being able to use this as a stepping stone for more success stories in the future.”

BVB’s partner of the legend team, Evonik and ROWE, also expressed their excitement toward the upcoming project. “Evonik has been the main sponsor of BVB for over 15 years. Our partnership encompasses the values of diversity, fairness, courage, and respect, as well as the determination to outdo ourselves every day,” said Shirley Qi, President of Evonik South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and Head of Nutrition & Care Asia Pacific. “We are excited to see this event happening in Vietnam, a dynamic country where we are focusing on expanding our presence. I look forward to future events and partnerships that will spur growth and sportsmanship in the region.”

“Vietnam is a fascinating and emerging country in the Asia-Pacific region. Its economic potential is just about to unfold fully. The Southeast Asia region in particular is becoming increasingly important for our global strategy. That's why we are delighted to support the BVB Legends on this trip and to raise awareness of the ROWE brand in this important growth market through a strong presence,” explains Dr. Alexandra Kohlmann, Managing Director of ROWE.
