Borussia's U19s have made a major statement in the UEFA Youth League by claiming an impressive 5-1 away victory against Ajax in Amsterdam. The result sees BVB jump to the top of Group C with seven points, ahead of Sporting CP (5) and Ajax (4). Sporting won the group's other game 3-1 away to Istanbul-based Besiktas.

BVB forward Bradley Fink opened the scoring in the 18th minute in what was for the most part a high-quality clash at the De Toemkost stadium in Amsterdam. Mike Tullberg's youngsters responded to the setback with two goals before the interval – scored by Albin Thaqi and again Bradley Fink – to put themselves 3-1 ahead by the break.

The Black & Yellows were in cruise control in the second period and allowed their opponents hardly any opportunities. Tom Rothe and Dennis Lütke-Frie then added goals to round off the rout. The U19s will welcome Ajax to the youth performance centre in Brackel for the return fixture on 3 November (kick-off at 15:30 CET). (wiwi)
