Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with Chelsea over the immediate transfer of their wing forward Christian Pulisic to the English Premier League club. The London outfit will then loan the player back to BVB until the end of the current campaign.

That means Pulisic's transfer will only go through ahead of the 2019/2020 season.

The transfer fee that will be paid by Chelsea for Pulisic, whose BVB contract would have expired at the end of the season, is €64 million. BVB will not have to pay a loan fee for the six months he remains with the club.

"It was always Christian's big dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with Christian's American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract," said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc. "Against this background, we've decided to accept an extremely lucrative bid by Chelsea, given the low contract maturity."

"Christian Pulisic is a perfect player in terms of his character," Zorc continued. "I'm sure that in the coming months he'll do everything in his power to bring his high quality to the team and to achieve his sporting objectives with his team-mates at Borussia Dortmund."
