On Wednesday afternoon, the Borussia Dortmund women's football team made their way to the training camp in the Kitzbühel Alps. By Sunday, the first and second team will have put on the finishing touches in preparation for the start of the season next week.

The BVB fan Airbus – a Eurowings' A320 – was not only Black and Yellow on the outside when it took off from Düsseldorf and headed south on Wednesday. On board was the 59-strong BVB contingent, including 45 players, who moved into their quarters in Westendorf in the late evening.

In addition to the training sessions, the agenda sees both teams going on a hike and playing a friendly over the next few days. "On the training ground, we are focusing on playing with the ball," said Thomas Sulewski, coach of the first team, and added: "Of course, we also want to get a boost in terms of fitness." For Ingo Kuhl, head coach of the second team, the objective of the training camp was also twofold: "We will continue to work on our passing and link-up play through various games. We want to take advantage of the excellent conditions here in the Alps bring the team even closer together."

On Saturday night, the second team will have their last dress rehearsal with a friendly against SV Westendorf at 19:45 CET. For the first team, it will be another encounter with the women of TSV 1860 Munich at 14:00 CET on Sunday. About a year ago, it was against 1860 that the BVB women played their first ever game at the Rote Erde. Both games and all the training sessions will take place in the Waldstadion of SV Westendorf.
