BVB star Jude Bellingham has been named Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2022/23. The midfielder received the most votes from fans, clubs and experts in the prize awarded by the DFL (German Football League).

Bellingham made 31 appearances over the past Bundesliga season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists. The 19-year-old won more tackles (482) than any other player, while his total distance covered of 322km ranks him among the top runners in the league. The midfielder took more shots on goal than any other member of the BVB squad, while his 36 shots-assisted ranked him third among all Black & Yellows.

''I can't believe it. Thank you to everyone, this is a huge joy for me. Awards like this always go to players who score the most goals or provide the most assists,'' said a stunned Bellingham as he received the trophy. ''I'm really happy both that the fans voted and that they clearly enjoyed watching me play. This is probably one of the prizes that I'm most proud of receiving since I first started playing for this club.''
