''It's hard to accept this defeat. We're very disappointed to have lost the match. We had 80% possession and dominated the game,'' said Lucien Favre in his press conference after the 2-0 Bundesliga loss away to FC Augsburg. The BVB head coach cited a lack of patience and insufficient tempo as the reasons for his team's defeat.

''You have to set things out clearly and be realistic. Although we started relatively well - I'm referring to large parts of the first half - you could see then that we were lacking accuracy. We were also somewhat rushed in our play, which led to us giving the ball away too cheaply,'' said Favre, adding: ''Augsburg defended well, they were strong in the tackle. We have to have more patience and get the ball out wide a lot more when we're playing against teams like that. We have a lot of work ahead of us.''

Favre felt his side didn't switch the play often enough: ''That's something we were missing, I have to say. We played too few diagonal balls. Had we done so, we would have forced Augsburg to run a lot more than they did.'' In the end, the Black & Yellows were unable to decisively carve open their opponents. ''They defended fantastically for 90 minutes,'' said Favre, going on to add: ''We created a few chances, but not that many. You have to have a lot more patience against an opponent like that.'' On those occasions Borussia found themselves with a sight of goal, they were denied again and again by Augsburg goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz, who made seven saves.

The Black & Yellows will pick things up on Wednesday when they face Bayern Munich for a chance to lift the Supercup. Going into the match, Favre doesn't want to ''waste time thinking'' about the disappointing result in Augsburg... (br)
