Sébastien Haller had to be substituted in the opening stages of the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. At the press conference prior to the match against Atlético Madrid, BVB coach Edin Terzic announced an initial diagnosis.

Haller "unfortunately sustained an injury to his ankle again. He is now getting a full week of rest. There will be a final diagnosis on Saturday in order to define the period of absence slightly more clearly," said Terzic. "We're assuming that he won't be available for two to three weeks."

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens also had to be substituted with an injury in Mönchengladbach. The attacking player "is already feeling better again and we're hoping he'll be able to complete training with us".

Jadon Sancho did not even make the trip to Mönchengladbach on account of illness. However, he was already back on the pitch with his team-mates on Sunday and will return to the squad against Madrid. (cr)
