The switch of coaches within the Borussia Dortmund first team set-up has led to personnel changes at youth level too. Because new head coach Edin Terzic brought Sebastian Geppert onto his coaching staff, the post of U17 coach became vacant. In addition, two youth coaches with a Black & Yellow past have returned to BVB.

Geppert's previous assistant Eren Yilmaz will step up and coach the U17s in the B-Junior Bundesliga until the end of the season. A familiar face has been by his side for a few days already: Miguel Morreira, once a successful amateur footballer in Dortmund who has been former BVB coach Hannes Wolf's assistant since 2013. During his time as Wolf's assistant, the duo won three German youth championships before moving to Hamburger SV, VfB Stuttgart and, most recently, KRC Genk. "Miguel will help us as an assistant coach for half a year until the summer," explained Youth Coordinator Lars Ricken. "His many years of coaching experience within the BVB youth setup will help him in the role. Furthermore, he will reduce the pressure on Eren Yilmaz, who in addition to his coaching duties is still taking his badges."

There will also be a change to the goalkeeping coaching team in the Black & Yellow academy. Another familiar face, Tobias Ritz, is returning to BVB as the new goalkeeping coach for the U19s. Ritz was a B Junior champion with Borussia in 1998 and last worked as a goalkeeping coach in RW Essen's youth set-up. Michael Strzys and Alexander Kuschmann, who have temporarily been supervising the U19 goalkeepers, will return to their positions with the U17s and U15s respectively.
