The Borussia Dortmund women's footballers, who have already been promoted, won 8-1 (4-1) against SV Hohenlimburg 1910 on Matchday 21 of the Landesliga. Marie Grothe impressed with four goals.

After the BVB women were able to secure promotion to the Westfalenliga early last week, the next points were secured on Sunday afternoon and the focus remained high. "It was important for us to finish the season well and not let up. That's why we didn't rotate the line-up too much and made it clear to the team that the last few games of the season have to be taken seriously," said BVB coach Thomas Sulewski after the match.

The team implemented the coach's instructions right from the start and took an early lead. Mia Macarena Bedarf was wide awake after a corner and managed to pounce on a loose ball to open the scoring in the third minute. (After the early goal, the Black & Yellows continued to press, repeatedly combining in the opposition half and creating further scoring opportunities. Marie Grothe made it 2-0 in the 14th minute before Mariana Naceva made it 3-0 (26). "Right from the start, we played very purposefully with few contacts and carved out some good chances. The early goal gave us a lot of confidence," said a satisfied Sulewski.

Shortly after the 3-0, a lapse of concentration in the BVB defence led to Meltem Sarioglu pulling one back (27). But BVB didn't allow themselves to be rattled and increased the lead to 4-1 through Marie Grothe (41).

The Black & Yellows continued to dominate in the second half and wanted to force further goals. It was Grothe again, who curled a direct free-kick past the wall and into the back of the net in the 60th minute.

Shortly before the end of the match, Sarah Duranville made her second appearance for BVB and within a few minutes scored her first goal for the club. The attacking player was in the right place after a rebound and slotted the ball home to make it 7-1 (81). A few minutes later, Duranville laid the ball off to Hannah Geldschläger, who rounded off the scoring to make it 8-1 (87).

"Marie Grothe had a great game and was rewarded with four goals," said Sulewski after the match, but also praised the performance of the entire team: "It was a cohesive team performance from the first minute to the end. We didn't let up and played really good football. All in all, it was a very successful match today and we are very satisfied."

Next Sunday (12 May), the BVB women will play their next match in the Landesliga, when they travel to SpVgg Horsthausen (kick-off 13:00 CEST).
