In October 2013, Borussia Dortmund published a first ever photo on their official Instagram account . Now BVB's global account has hit a new milestone: as of this weekend, over 20 million users follow the account @bvb09.

In its early days, Instagram was purely a photo platform on which Borussia Dortmund documented Black & Yellow moments on and off the pitch and shared them with fans around the world. In the meantime, the app has evolved and, in addition to photos, now focuses primarily on videos, which also allow fans to follow more closely and authentically than ever before.

BVB's social media team has published almost 11,000 posts on the Instagram feed to date, in addition to countless stories. In a comparison of German clubs represented on the platform, BVB are ranked second behind Bayern Munich, while the Champions League semi-finalists are ranked 11th internationally.

In addition to the global account, BVB is also represented on Instagram with other specialised channels: The @blackyellow account brings together well over four million fans who enjoy English-language content from the Borussia stars. The BVB-women, the BVB academy, the BVB women's handball team, the BVB-eFootball-Team, the BVB-Shop and mascot EMMA also have their own profiles. Take a look!
