After last weekend's 31-26 win over cup winners Metzingen, the Borussia Dortmund women's handball team will be looking to continue their positive run in the Bundesliga. On Saturday evening, Bayer Leverkusen will be the visitors for a big-name clash at the Halle Wellinghofen (19:00 CET).

The BVB handball team travelled home from Metzingen a week ago with an impressive win and two important points in their bag. Now they will be looking to pick up more points in their clash with Bayer Leverkusen to consolidate their fourth-place position in the table. The Black & Yellows also want to take revenge for the bitter defeat at the end of September, when Borussia lost 26-24 at home to Leverkusen in the last 16 of the DHB-Pokal.

"I think we all know that it won't be easy. We had a tough time in the 29-27 win in the reverse fixture and we also lost the cup game at home. We'll have to put in a really good performance to keep the two points in Dortmund," said BVB captain Alicia Stolle, adding: "We had a good second half in Metzingen and we want to take the momentum with us - especially as we've taken another step forward in recent weeks."

The BVB backcourt player sees Leverkusen as an opponent that should not be taken lightly, despite the absence of Germany international Viola Leuchter. "The game is different without Viola, of course, but they still have two very dangerous backcourt players in Mareike Thomaier and Mariana Lopes. They don't shoot from distance, but are still very active. Perhaps that means we won't have to be as aggressive as usual, but in any case we'll have to perform very well and play the same defence we always do," says Stolle.

Bayer's recent results illustrate why BVB will have to go into this storied match-up with caution: Bayer have won five of their last eight games, losing only to big names like Bietigheim, Bensheim and Thuringia - the Black & Yellows have been warned.

Saturday's game in the Halle Wellinghofen will get underway at 19:00 CET. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the BVB ticket shop or purchased on the day at the ticket office. The action will be streamed live on Sportdeutschland.TV and Dyn Media.
