''leuchte auf“ funds playground equipment for primary school children
There was a special black and yellow tinge to the playground of the ''Auf dem Kelm'' primary school in Lünen as the children came out for their lunch break on this early Autumn day. A donation on the part of the BVB foundation ''leuchte auf'' meant that the school was able to purchase new playground equipment. This new equipment has been immediately put to use during all breaks in class.
The teachers at the primary school have a clear goal in mind: to provide all children from Year 1 to Year 4 with an enjoyable and varied mixture of playing opportunities, with a special emphasis on exercise, partner activities and group games, all of which should contribute to making the children feel relaxed. The aim is to reduce stressful conflict situations between the children in all 11 classes in the school.
At the same time, any feelings of boredom will be tackled head on. The 11 boxes of equipment will provide new playing opportunities which will teach the children not just how to play certain games, but also how to get along with each other on a social level. The playing and sports opportunities will also improve the childrens' perception and motor skills. Diverse equipment for various sports such as football, hockey, badminton and others makes up a crucial part of the playground equipment being provided. ''leuchte auf“ is funding the boxes of equipment with a donation of €1,730. Part of this donation comes from the earnings from a book project organised by the BVB foundation. Everything is made that bit more poignant by the fact that these books included children's illustrations originally drawn by former pupils of the ''Auf dem Kelm'' primary school.
