''leuchte auf'' funds play equipment for Dortmund kindergarten
A donation of €10,393 on the part of the BVB foundation ''leuchte auf'' meant that the FABIDO family centre Leopoldstraße was able to install a new obstacle course for the facility grounds. The newly-installed play equipment was inaugurated by BVB mascot EMMA as part of a special Black & Yellow summer festival.
By adding the obstacle course to the playground, the staff at the family centre are hoping to increase the childrens' enthusiasm for physical activity as well as help improve their motor skills. The facility's location on Leopoldstraße - a busy main road in the north of Dortmund - means that the children who live there have limited opportunities to get outside and play freely in the fresh air. The heavily built-up nature of the establishment's surroundings mean that it's particularly important for the kindergarten that the children are given ample opportunity to exercise in the playground. The newly-fitted obstacle course greatly enhances the recreational activities available to the children, and will certainly help stimulate their natural sense of play and fun.
The FABIDO family centre in north Dortmund delivers child care services to the families of over 90 children, who range from four months to six years of age. As of this summer, all of the children at the establishment will have the opportunity to play on the new Black & Yellow obstacle course.
The FABIDO family centre, located on Leopoldstraße, has been a cooperation partner of the BVB academy for a number of years. Youth players from the academy, from the U14 age group and over, regularly undertake placements at the intercultural establishment, with the experience helping to develop their social competences. This exchange between the BVB academy and the kindergarten will no doubt be given a siginificant boost by the new playing opportunities provided by the obstacle course funded by ''leuchte auf.''
